COME FOR 1 HOUR OR 3!
Come and volunteer to beautify your school. We will focus on the vegetable/fruit Learning Garden. Students may assist with gardening while learning about taking care of plants, trees and vegetable gardens!
Child care will be provided for the younger students by parent volunteer(s). ****No gardening experience necessary, nor gardening tools, just bring your water and sunscreen!!

K-Kids
Hello Playa families- our school’s internationally recognized community service club, “K-KIDS,” has officially kicked off their annual project for the year, “ONE MEAL, ONE FAMILY.” By helping them collect items for donation to the less fortunate, you support the K-Kids’ efforts in encouraging service and loyalty to their school and community. For the month of October, they are collecting Oatmeal. Your voluntary donations are greatly appreciated and can be left in the orange bins by the school auditorium. Would your child like to be a K-Kid? Allow them to attend the first meeting next Wednesday, October 10th, after school in the parent room. Meetings will be held monthly, every 2nd Wednesday. There is no cost to be a member; simply have your child pick up a permission slip at the first meeting and have it returned it to the Friends of Playa box in the office.

Please join us for Playa’s October fundraiser this Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012, at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse!Take a break from the kitchen while mingling with your child’s friends, other parents, teachers, and the principal – all while raising money for Playa Del Rey Elementary School. BJ’s has plenty to offer, including: appetizers, salad, deep dish pizza and a variety of dinner entrees and children’s meals. Be sure to save room for one of BJ’s famous pizookies for dessert. If you’ll have a busy night, feel free to order take-out on your way home or stop in just for a dessert. Spirit Wear!
Hello Everyone:
Thanks to all the Playa families who ordered Spirit Wear! Some of you may have already received your order, since we had some stock left over from last year. If you haven’t received your order yet, don’t worry! We’re ordering more Spirit Wear and will deliver it to your child’s classroom as soon as it arrives.
If you haven’t placed an order but are thinking about it, please wait until the next order form comes out – which will be as soon as the new Spirit Wear arrives.
